On Thursday morning, Sam, Andrea and I headed to the hospital. It was hard to see my brother in that state- he had tubes coming out of everywhere, a machine assisting his breathing- and I could do nothing to help. After speaking to a doctor, I discovered Robert had acute pancreatitis and a 50/50 chance of living. After learning this I went back to my hotel and did as much homework as I could on the subject. By Friday my older brother Daniel, my cousin Steven and my uncle Armand all flew in. It was nice having everyone there for Robert, but I was still uneasy. I spoke to every doctor that had some sort of involvement with Robert and tried to stay updated on his status as much as possible. This was hard, however, as they were all telling me something different. First, I heard, “he was stable, he will be fine,” then I heard, “he is not doing well, it’s a 70/30 chance,” then another doctor told me that it was 50/50 chance. I was getting so frustrated!
